Pluckyfluff Rocks
As some of you may know, I have a bit of an addiction to Pluckyfluff Yarns. I have 4 skeins of beautiful and unique yarns from Lexi Boeger, and I am a daily visitor to the site, drooling over the yarn. I haven't made anything from the yarn yet, and I'm not sure I will. I just love looking it at it...it is like soft sculpture to me. Well, Lexi just released a book about how she makes these breathtaking yarns:
I, of course, had to buy the book, even though I don't spin. I'd like to spin, and I have a pretty good theoretical knowledge of how to spin, but I just don't want to add another addiction hobby to my life...especially when I can commission someone to spin for me!
I digress...This book has wonderful instructions on how to do some of the crazy spinning and plying the Lexi does, including how to add scraps, sequins, and my favorite, treasure box skeins, which sometimes have vintage soft animals and things in it! The instructions are very clear and the pictures are beautiful. With this book, Lexi makes a strong case for textiles as an art from, not just a craft.
So, if you already know how to spin, or just want to pretend that you can, this is a most fantastic addition to your library! Just make sure to buy the book from the site as there are some pricing problems with it on Amazon.
Oh, and now that I've let the cat out of the bag to some of you, you best not be beating me to the punch the next time I want to buy a treasure box skein! :)

Thanks for letting the Pluckyfluff cat out of the bag. I'll have to pick up that book very soon (after the move).

Hi, Caryn! I had no idea you were also a Lexi Boeger/Pluckyfluff fan -- is her stuff great or what? I bought one lone copy of her new book for the store, in hopes of turning other folks on to her greatness. Speaking of the store -- we're having a mini-Flower Basket Knitalong, and your site has been a wonderful source of information for me and my knitters. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
