FO and Yarn Haul
YAY! I finished the Flore baby hat! It is SOOOOO CUTE! So cute in fact, that my husband even oohed and ahhed over it. It's a bit heavy (100% mercerized cotton), so baby will need to be older to wear it, but how could a new mom resist putting this darling hat on their baby?
The pattern was fun and well written! I would love to work with KnitWhits patterns in the future!
I hit the LYS yesterday and used my gift certificates for some yarn! I have been searching for the perfect yarn for Belle Epoque, but since I'm allergic to Kid Mohair (the horror!) I've had to search a little harder for something that would give the same drape and have the same "lightness" as the mohairs recommended. I finally found it:
It is Jo Sharp Silkroad Tweed DK (85% Wool, 10% Silk, 5% Cashmere). The silk and cashmere really give it a nice hand, and I think it will show off the pattern very well. Bailey likes it too!
I also bought some yarn for Alison's Leftovers Sweater Vest. I'm excited to make this as I really think I'd wear this a lot to work. I have a boat load of white oxford shirts, and not much to wear them with. I was delighted to see this pattern when the Winter Knitty came out...I read her blog everyday, but haven't knit anything of hers yet. I picked out Goddess Yarns "Emanuella", a tightly plied 100% Merino. I'm going out of my comfort zone and making this in shades of olive, khaki, creams, and custard. I had some balls of the custard color left over from a failed project, so I decided to be daring and go neutral with my color palette. I'm naturally drawn to color (as exhibited by my Noro Kureyon and Koigu KPPPM addiction), and after a recent glance in my closet, realized that I have maybe too much color. I'm nervous about how this will stripe up, but hey, if I like it, I can always make more in brights! Here's the Emanuella:
It's hard to tell the color from the pic, but the 3 balls at the bottom are a dark olive, and it will be the ribbing at the bottom, v-neck, and arm holes. I'll probably get started on the sweater this weekend...this will be a fast knit, and I need more clothes for work!!

Wow, those colors for your leftovers vest are really beautiful. It's going to be so lovely and great for work.
And that hat is adorable! Those patterns are sooo cute.
Hey, you're gonna knit Belle Epoque? I'm so tempted to make one too. Is someone doing a knitalong for that?

Oh, that hat is just precious! Looks like something a baby in an Anne Geddes photo would wear. So cute!
Happy New Year!

Thank you for the kind words on the Flore design! I am so glad you enjoyed making it. All feedback is good, and good feedback is better!
